What Surfaces Can Rhino Shield Be Used On?
Rhino Shield of New England offers an exceptional elastomeric wall coating that outperforms traditional paint products tenfold. Our wall coatings don’t contain cheap fillers and tons of water like regular exterior paint. Instead, they have high-quality ceramic microspheres and other top-performing ingredients that render our coatings 8-10 times thicker than the paint our competitors use. This allows your coatings to last much longer than you’d get with other paint products, providing you with a great value for your investment in your home or business.
This likely all sounds great, and now you may be wondering what surfaces Rhino Shield can be applied on. We can apply our coatings to most of the popular siding materials, but let’s take a closer look at how our coatings hold up on different kinds of surfaces.
We Apply Rhino Shield on Brick & Stucco
Some of the best surfaces for Rhino Shield to be applied on are brick and stucco. We’ve found that these materials not only take the coating well, but also maintain their beauty for years after the application. If you have brick or stucco siding on your home, Rhino Shield is a great option for you.
We Apply Rhino Shield on Cedar Clapboard
Another material that we commonly apply our coatings on is cedar clapboard. This type of wood siding takes our coating very well, but there is a catch: We can’t paint over rotten or damaged wood. If your cedar clapboard siding has these issues, it doesn’t mean that you’re out of luck, however. As part of our process, we can identify and repair any areas of cedar clapboard siding that need to be tended to before painting can occur.
We Apply Rhino Shield on Aluminum
Rhino Shield can also be applied to aluminum siding. We’ve found that our coating goes on and holds up well on aluminum siding. And, thanks to its durability, aluminum siding typically requires less prep work before painting than other types of materials do.
We Don’t Apply Rhino Shield on Vinyl
One of the only materials that we don’t recommend applying Rhino Shield to is vinyl. While the coating looks good when initially applied, the expansion and contraction that vinyl siding goes through due to temperature fluctuations cause visible gaps in the siding. We’ve learned over the years that our customers do not like to see these gaps on their homes (for good reason), so to keep all of our customers satisfied, we unfortunately are not able to apply our coating on homes that have vinyl siding.
You may be able to find a painting contractor that will paint over vinyl siding, but you will still find yourself dealing with the same issues as your siding expands and contracts. There’s no guarantee that a house painter would come back and perform touchups when this happens, so we advise homeowners with vinyl siding to find a different solution for their homes.
